Hospice Care
During life’s most difficult moments, you can count on the Mid Island Veterinary Practice team to stand beside you with compassion, patience, and understanding. As pets face illness or the challenges of aging, our role is to guide you through each decision with care, helping your companion remain comfortable, pain-free, and surrounded by love in their final days.
We are happy to meet with you to discuss your pet’s comfort and quality of life in their final days. Together, we can provide guidance and support in areas such as:
- At-Home Accommodations – Tips on mobility aids (ramps, bedding, flooring) or changes to daily routines to make pets more comfortable.
- Emotional Support and Education – Helping families understand what to expect, signs of decline, and when to consider transitioning to end-of-life care.
- End-of-Life Planning: Gentle conversations about euthanasia options, including in-home services if available, to ensure dignity and peace.
- Nutritional Support: Guidance on diets or appetite stimulants to help maintain quality of life.
- Pain Management & Comfort Care: Medications, supplements, or therapies to ease pain, improve mobility, and reduce anxiety. With our fully stocked in-house pharmacy, we can help to ensure your pet gets the right medications without delay. From preventives to prescriptions, you’ll have convenient access to trusted products with no extra trips needed.
- Symptom Monitoring – Regular check-ins (in-person or by phone) to track changes in pain, appetite, breathing, or mobility.
End-of-Life Care
Saying goodbye to your beloved pet companion is one of the hardest things we have to do in life. When that time comes, we’ll be here for you to provide comfort, dignity, and support every step of the way. For your pet, we promise a peaceful goodbye, surrounded by the family who has loved them most.
