More about Samantha

Veterinary Assistant

For Samantha, veterinary medicine has always been more than a career—it’s a calling rooted in family, love, and legacy. Her passion began at just eight years old, when her sister, a veterinary technician, would bring her along to the hospital. Those early experiences sparked a deep admiration for the profession. After losing her sister in 2013, Samantha knew she wanted to honor her memory by continuing the work they both cared so deeply about, dedicating herself to helping animals and the people who love them.

She carries with her a simple mantra—“There’s always a bigger fish.” It keeps her grounded and reminds her to stay humble, adaptable, and open to growth, no matter what each day brings.

Originally from New Dorp, Samantha has now spent nearly two decades in veterinary medicine—entering her 18th year in 2026—and was honored as Trupanion’s Veterinary Professional of the Year in 2024. Outside the hospital, she enjoys cooking big meals, staying active, and spending time with her family.

One of the most meaningful relationships in her life is with Patch, her beloved cat of 15 years. Patch came to Samantha as the last kitten left in a litter of five, and quickly became one of her closest companions—a reminder of why the work she does each day matters so deeply.

What Samantha loves most about her role is being part of a team that always puts animals first. Helping families, easing worry, and providing care that genuinely feels good to give are the reasons she shows up every day with purpose and heart.
