Samantha Tangen has dedicated her life to caring for animals—a dream she’s carried with her since second grade. In her yearbook, she wrote that she wanted to work with animals in the veterinary field when she grew up, and she’s proud to say that dream came true. Today, Samantha is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Mid Island Veterinary Practice, where her calm presence, deep knowledge, and heartfelt compassion make a meaningful difference for every patient she meets.
A Staten Island native, Samantha completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology before earning her Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She is also anesthesia certified and RECOVER certified, bringing advanced clinical skills to her role and ensuring that pets receive the safest, most thoughtful care possible.
For Samantha, the heart of her work lies in helping animals feel comfortable—especially when they’re sick, anxious, or in pain. Providing comfort and relief during difficult moments is what she loves most about being a veterinary technician. She takes pride in being the person who can offer gentleness, reassurance, and skilled care when pets need it most.
At home, Samantha’s world revolves around her husband, her baby Luke, and their two cats, Wednesday and Hallsy. Her pets play a special role in her life—bringing her comfort when she’s upset and laughter when she needs it most. They remind her every day why she chose this profession and inspire the kindness she brings to every patient encounter.
Samantha’s journey, her commitment to learning, and her lifelong devotion to animals come together to make her an invaluable member of the Mid Island family—someone who leads with both skill and heart in everything she does.
